Reinvention the ride
We're excited to share that Hawkers Surfboards will be involved in James A. Grant: Reinventing The Ride, an exhibition celebrating craftsmanship, creativity, and the enduring connection between people and wave-riding craft.
The exhibition explores the evolution of surf culture, design, and innovation, bringing together makers, artists, and stories that have helped shape the way we experience the ocean. As a builder of handcrafted wooden surfboards, bellyboards, and bodysurfing handplanes, it's an honour to be part of a showcase that highlights both heritage and contemporary craftsmanship.
For Hawkers Surfboards, this exhibition represents more than displaying finished work. It is an opportunity to share the process behind each board—from selecting timber and refining designs to the countless hours spent shaping, assembling, and finishing by hand. Every piece carries a story, and events like this allow those stories to be shared beyond the workshop walls.
Visitors will have the chance to view examples of our handcrafted surfcraft and learn more about the traditional woodworking techniques and sustainable materials that influence our work.
Whether you're a surfer, designer, maker, or simply someone who appreciates thoughtful craftsmanship, this promises to be a fascinating exhibition exploring the past, present, and future of wave-riding culture.
We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new people throughout the exhibition.
